After retiring from a career in secondary education, Diana moved to Joshua Tree with her family to become a full time artist. From her home studio Diana creates emotionally powerful abstract oil paintings on canvas and hardboard. Diana's technique of painting involves using very small brushes to achieve high detail and a smooth blending of colors. The use of this technique allows her to express her ideas about the world around us. A common theme in Diana's work is the use of "layers" in which the subject matter's skin seems to be peeling away only to reveal more layers as if she is in a constant search for the answers that lie within. The human form figures prominently in Diana"s work, as well as images from nature. These organic forms are often combined to explore our connections with the world around us. Imagery, color and form elicit an emotional response and encourage the viewer to discover what lies deep within the the layers of their own lives, minds, and hearts.
